About George Newhouse

George Newhouse

After being admitted as a lawyer in 1985 George joined the international
bank JP Morgan. He commenced work in their Corporate Finance division in
Sydney and then their Treasury Planning and Development in New York.

In 1987 he joined the capital markets division of Clifford Chance, the largest law
firm in the European Union.

On his return to Australia he joined a Swaab Attorneys as an associate where he developed his commercial practice.

In 1993, he commenced practice as a sole practitioner and later joined KNPW
lawyers as a commercial partner.

George has a varied practice focused on the provision of prompt and
efficient commercial advice. He has worked closely with corporations across
a wide range of industries including the property, medical and allied
industries and in technology and intellectual property.

In 2010 he succeeded in forcing Google to remove links to a racist website
and over many years he has developed the skills necessary to advise on the
removal of defamatory and misleading and deceptive material from the
internet.

In addition to George’s commercial and internet expertise, he has been a key
figure in the successful prosecution of a number of highly publicised human
rights cases and internet vilification cases.
